OUR STORY

ABOUT US

As the largest hospice provider in Michigan, we offer comfort and peace for patients and their loved ones.

HOSPICE OF MICHIGAN

By caring for our communities more than 40 years, we are the most experienced provider of hospice care in Michigan. Currently serving more than 4,000 patients annually in 50 counties, we’re also the largest not-for-profit hospice in our state, and among the largest recognized 501c3 non-profit advanced illness management organizations in the nation.

We provide care for all—regardless of age, diagnosis, or ability to pay. Last year, our commitment extended $4 million beyond what was reimbursed by insurance. Because we welcome those who are uninsured, or whose treatment is more expensive than what other hospices can provide, we depend on the financial support of our donors for the treatments, medications, services, grief support, and spiritual care of patients and families in need.

HOSPICE OF MICHIGAN FOUNDATION

The Hospice of Michigan Foundation generates financial support to ensure that every person who seeks our care is able to receive it. Philanthropic giving also funds the research, education and innovation initiatives at the Hospice of Michigan Institute. We continue to rely on gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fulfill the Hospice of Michigan mission. NORTHSTAR INSTITUTE

The first of its kind in Michigan, the NorthStar Institute  (formerly the Hospice of Michigan Institute) is the research and innovation arm of Hospice of Michigan. Focused on improving quality of life for patients and families facing serious illness care at the local, state and national levels, the Institute is a source of groundbreaking research, education, and community outreach initiatives. The Institute also serves as a forum where healthcare experts can exchange ideas, collaborate, and explore new ways to improve care.
